Cookie Policy
Last Updated: March 12, 2026
This Cookie Policy explains how CloverNews Learning Ltd (trading as CloverNews) uses cookies and similar technologies on CloverNews.cyou. It supplements our Privacy Policy, which describes how we handle personal data more broadly.
1) What cookies are
Cookies are small text files stored on your device (computer, phone, or tablet) when you visit a website. They help a site remember basic information between page loads and visits, such as session continuity, language preferences, and consent choices.
In addition to cookies, we may use similar technologies such as pixel tags and server-side event logging. These technologies can record that a page was viewed or that a form was submitted, typically to measure site usage and advertising effectiveness. Any analytics or marketing technologies are activated only if you consent, where required.
2) Cookie types by lifespan and origin
Cookies can be categorised by how long they last:
- Session cookies expire when you close your browser.
- Persistent cookies remain for a set period (for example, 90 days or 12 months) unless you delete them earlier.
Cookies can also be categorised by who sets them:
- First-party cookies are set by CloverNews.cyou.
- Third-party cookies are set by a service provider we use (for example, analytics or advertising partners), subject to your consent settings.
3) Categories of cookies we use
We group cookies into the following categories. These categories match the controls in our cookie banner and preferences panel.
Essential cookies (always active)
These cookies are required for the website to function and cannot be switched off using our preferences panel. They support core features such as session continuity, basic security, and remembering your cookie consent choice.
Analytics cookies (consent required)
Analytics cookies help us understand how visitors use the site, such as which pages are most read and how people navigate between guides and workshop information. This helps us improve lesson structure and clarity. When enabled, we may use Google Analytics 4 with IP anonymization, and we use an analytics retention period consistent with the settings described in our Privacy Policy (typically 14 months for analytics data).
Marketing cookies (consent required)
Marketing cookies help measure advertising performance and show relevant messages to people who have previously visited the site. This can include remarketing and conversion attribution. When enabled, we may use marketing technologies provided by Google Ads and Meta Platforms (for example, cookie identifiers used to attribute a visit or a form submission to an ad). If you do not consent, we do not activate marketing tags through this site.
We do not permit these providers to use site data for their own independent commercial purposes. Where these providers act as independent controllers for certain processing, their own policies also apply.
4) Cookie table
The table below lists the cookies associated with the categories above. Some cookies appear only if you consent to Analytics and/or Marketing cookies.
| Name | Purpose | Category | Type | Retention |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| _site_session | Site session continuity | Essential | First-party | Session |
| cookie_consent | Stores your consent choice | Essential | First-party | 12 months |
| _ga | GA4 user identifier | Analytics | Third-party | 2 years |
| _ga_XXXXXXXXXX | GA4 session state (10-char GA4 ID) | Analytics | Third-party | 2 years |
| _gcl_au | Google Ads conversion linker | Marketing | Third-party | 90 days |
| _fbp | Meta Pixel browser identifier | Marketing | Third-party | 90 days |
| _fbc | Meta Pixel click identifier | Marketing | Third-party | 90 days |
Some cookie names (for example, the GA4 property suffix in _ga_XXXXXXXXXX) vary by configuration. If Analytics cookies are disabled, these cookies should not be set by this site.
5) Managing your cookie preferences
You can control non-essential cookies in three ways:
- Use our cookie preferences panel: open the cookie banner and choose “Manage Preferences”, then save your choices.
- Use browser controls: most browsers allow you to block or delete cookies. Blocking some cookies may affect site functionality.
- Use provider opt-out tools: these control analytics and advertising settings at the provider level.
Helpful opt-out resources:
- Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on
- Google Ads Settings
- Meta ad preferences
- Your Online Choices (EU)
If you withdraw consent, we will stop using the relevant cookies and may delete certain cookies that are already set (such as _ga and _fbp). Please note that third-party providers may also set cookies through their own domains when you use their services, and those are controlled by their policies and tools.
6) Third-party providers
When enabled by your consent choice, CloverNews may use the following providers:
- Google LLC (Google Analytics 4, Google Ads, Google Tag Manager) — policies.google.com/privacy
- Meta Platforms, Inc. (Meta Pixel and related measurement tools) — facebook.com/privacy/policy
- Cloudflare, Inc. (CDN and security services) — cloudflare.com/privacypolicy
We select providers that support privacy and security controls appropriate for an educational website. We do not knowingly allow these providers to use our site data for their own independent commercial purposes.
7) Updates to this policy
We may update this Cookie Policy when the site changes (for example, if we add new measurement tools or adjust cookie lifetimes). The “Last Updated” date at the top of this page shows when changes take effect.
